Eurostar has announced the suspension of all trains between London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Brussels until further notice due to technical problems in the Channel Tunnel. The halt affects the entire service crossing the English Channel and is the result of a double technical failure involving the tunnel operator, Getlink.
“There was a problem with the electrical supply in the Channel Tunnel, followed by the stoppage of a train,” said an Eurostar spokesperson, “which means that all journeys to or from London are suspended until further notice, pending resolution”.
Eurostar is urging passengers not to travel today unless they already have a ticket. In a statement on its official website, the high-speed operator recommends postponing travel to a later date. “We regret that trains in service are subject to severe delays and last-minute cancellations,” the company said, advising travelers to check the Train Status and Timetables page for real-time updates.
The suspension affects all major international routes served by Eurostar, including those to Paris, Amsterdam, and Brussels, causing significant disruption for travelers and potential impacts on cross-border mobility between the UK and mainland Europe.
