The international multilingual digital group La Prima Pagina, together with its entire editorial staff, has chosen to award the recognition “La Prima Pagina – Protagonist Story of 2025” to Attilio Carbone, historic host of the program Melodie Italiane aired on WGBB Radio, a United States broadcaster.
The decision was made in agreement with Massimo Martire, artistic director of Canale Italia radio stations and host of the television program Notizie Oggi, who chaired the journalistic commission responsible for the evaluation.
The commission considered, in addition to Carbone’s long and extraordinary career, the polls conducted through social media, which highlighted the great appreciation and support from the public, both among Italian listeners and the Italian-American community.
The tribute celebrates an exceptional career: 61 uninterrupted years of hosting and dedication to promoting the Italian language and culture among Italian communities in the United States. Attilio Carbone, a beloved voice in New York and a symbol of Italian identity worldwide, has built over six decades an enduring bridge between Italy and the United States, keeping the country’s roots and traditions alive through music, words, and the narration of emotions.
Throughout his career, Carbone has received numerous international awards and recognitions in Italy, the United States, and other countries, testifying to his tireless commitment to spreading the values of Italian culture worldwide.
The digital certificate recognizing this honor will be signed by the association La Fenice, chaired by Cavaliere Rino Logiacco, and sent by email to the United States.
The official award ceremony of the title “La Prima Pagina – Protagonist Story of 2025” will take place on December 26, 2025, live on Canale Italia, at 6:00 a.m. Italian time (midnight in New York), during a special episode of Notizie Oggi hosted by Massimo Martire, who will interview Attilio Carbone.
The award motivations will be read in three languages – Italian, Spanish, and English – by anthropologist Pino Cinquegrana, highlighting the international and intercultural impact of Carbone’s career.
During the broadcast, the editorial staff of La Prima Pagina will pay tribute to the Italian-American host with the symbolic delivery of the award, with the hope of welcoming him soon back to his beloved Italy for a direct meeting with the journalists who honored him.
