Soriano Calabro hosts emotional and spiritual presentation of I Believe by Domenico Nardo

The Council Chamber of the Municipality of Soriano Calabro hosted yesterday the presentation of the book I Believe by Domenico Nardo, published by Libritalia.net, in an event that brought together culture, faith, and community. The initiative, promoted by the Municipality and the cultural association Rachele Nardo LLFF-ODV, saw the participation of institutions, citizens, and students, becoming a moment of profound collective emotion.

The author shared with the audience intimate moments of his life: his connection to Soriano, the memory of his daughter Rachele, the ordeal of Covid—when doctors told him he would not survive the night—and his journey of spiritual conversion experienced as a rebirth. With touching words, he emphasized: “Faith has taught me that hope and love remain stronger than pain.”

Particularly engaging were the questions from first-year students of the Soriano Calabro Middle School, accompanied by their parents, creating a generational bridge between youth and adults. The evening concluded with a choral reading of the poem Vorrei, a moment that moved attendees and highlighted a shared desire for a fairer and more supportive world.

City councilor and teacher Luciana Varì, in dialogue with the author, remarked: “Every poem by Domenico reminds me that the ordinary can become extraordinary. Through poetry, Domenico has offered himself to others and allowed my students to discover their inner world.”

The evening opened with institutional greetings from Deputy Mayor Francesco Alessandria, followed by a reflection from Father Rosario Licciarello OP, Superior of the Convent of San Domenico, on the value of faith and poetry. Dramatic readings of Nardo’s verses were performed by actor and director Pasquale De Masi, engaging the audience in a poetic and evocative atmosphere. Greetings from Simona Toma, editorial director of Libritalia, also highlighted the success of the initiative and the power of the book’s message.

The presentation of I Believe thus represented not only a literary moment but a true community journey, connecting institutions, schools, the religious community, and citizens.
