US, Trump Proposes Record $1.5 Trillion Military Budget for 2027

WASHINGTON – President Donald J. Trump announced his plan to raise the U.S. military budget for 2027 to $1.5 trillion, exceeding the initial proposal of $1 trillion. The decision, Trump said, comes after “long and difficult negotiations” with senators, congressmen, secretaries, and other political representatives.

According to the president, the increase is necessary to ensure national security during what he described as “very troubled and dangerous times.” The stated goal is to build a “Dream Military”, an unprecedented armed force capable of keeping the United States “safe and secure, regardless of any foe.”

Trump linked the feasibility of this spending boost to revenues generated from tariffs imposed on other countries, which, in his view, had previously benefited economically at the expense of the U.S. The proceeds from these tariffs, described as “unthinkable until recently,” would not only allow the $1.5 trillion target to be met, but also enable debt reduction and the provision of a financial dividend to moderate-income American citizens.

In his statement, Trump also criticized the previous administration, emphasizing that the current spending plan represents a decisive shift from the past.

The proposed defense budget will now face the legislative process and political debate in Congress, where the record increase is expected to spark discussions on both economic and strategic grounds.
